前言

網際網路(Internet)現已成為圖書館參考館員檢索資訊不可或缺的工具, 美國在台協會資料中心
藉美國新聞總署兩位顧問來台訪問的機會, 特商請中國圖書館學會大學圖書館委員會與國家圖書館
合作, 共同舉辦<政府資訊在網際網路上之檢索與應用研討會>, 其利用這一機會共同分享政府相關
資訊在網際網路上檢索與應用的經驗, 並探討有關問題。

一.美國政府資源在網際網路上之使用

    Helen Ives 女士首先提到現今網際網路的資訊爆炸, 如何快速地在網路上檢索到所需的
資訊。網頁製作者是強調視覺的炫麗, 而圖書館員則是注重網路資源的書目控制問題, 如
何有效提供資訊給 User。同時圖書館員也要注重資料維護與保存的問題。
    網路資源不斷推陳出新, User 不知如何查詢最新資訊, 搜尋引擎收錄的大多是免費的資訊,
而圖書館需要的資訊多半是需付費的資料庫。
    圖書館員雖不是未卜先知, 但必須先知先覺, 主動蒐集資料, 用 Bookmark 的功能來整理自己常用的網
站, 以便作為 Internet資源與 User 的中介者。
    以下 Helen Ives 女士分四大類介紹美國政府資源在網際網路上之使用情形, 其中最大的特點是美國
的政府出版品都是無版權的, 可自由取用, 而且民間參與政府資訊出版非常多。

          蔡股長主要介紹國家圖書館的政府資訊服務, 分為 :

        四. 國家圖書館對我國政府出版品之電子化與便民資訊查詢簡介

               1. 線上資料庫部份

             主要內容是國家圖書館遠距圖書服務系統中的政府資訊, 有政府公報, 政府統計及調查報告目次
              , 政府出版品目錄, 及公務出國報告書等。該系統將於三月初推出新版本, 供一般使用者只要線
              上註冊成為會員, 並購買儲值密碼函, 即可作文獻傳遞。
